Short Film Festivals
Chicago International REEL Shorts Film Festival:
This was founded in the year 2003 by a group of film makers. This short film festival has helped put people on the map to be able to become more professional filmmakers. The low entry fees and the low ticket cost help let these people who have a low to no budget put the format and the creativeness of their work out there to audiences, so that maybe they could start making a profit. The festival also provides a way to distribute short films to more audiences, broadening the amount of their message that could get out.
Indy Shorts International Film Festival:
They are a nonprofit organization who run a festival that goes on for 11 days, in October specifically. It was founded in 1991, its mission to help celebrate short films that are created with meaning and with an intent to show thoughtful media that can send a message. The prize is money and it helps set these filmmakers up for success in their business.
Atlanta Shorts Fest:
It has been showcasing since 2010, and it mainly showcases independent short films around the world. It helps bring more information for future film makers, since they also do Q&A's that help it succeed. It takes place in June 27-28 next year.
HollyShorts Film Festival:
This is based in Los Angeles, originally being established in the year 2005. It presents a diverse spectrum of different Short films and provides a way for the audience watching the film festival to see different genres and messages being established.
This will help my short film because it will help me narrow down my options of where I want to showcase my short film. Also, the knowledge will help tell me what kind of things are done at each, so I can maximize my audience.
