Gone Girl (2014)
Plot
At first this film seems innocent with a man (Nick) and his wife (Amy), but then it reveals that the man is thinking about splitting the wife's skull open. The man seems the be heading to a bar with his sister, when there the sister throws away a Master's Boardgame handed to her. Even though it was the anniversary between him and Amy, he seemed uninterested and detached from reality. It flashes back in time they shared a passionate kiss, showing that they once had a loving relationship. After the flashback, he gets a call about their cat, leading him to try to find his wife. Then, he discovers the crime scene in his home, making him call the police. The police discovered quite disturbing evidence, blood and a wall filled with photos of the fictional character "Amazing Amy", which was the character created by the Amy's parents. It flashes back to key moments of the couple life together and the many moments they shared together romantically, but it also shows the beginning of Nick's uneasy and disturbing behavior towards Amy. Flipping back to the present, Nicks behavior during the investigation becomes questionable, with him seeming odd and strange. The police start to question him and his whole public identity begins to unravel, making everyone start talking about his possible involvement in the disappearance of Amy. With the case going on, Amy's diary is found, and it reveals that she was on a spiral and feeling trapped. Then, they found Amy alive, orchestrating her own disappearance to frame her husband for a crime he never committed, though she starts to commit violent scenes to those who have wronged her.
Since Nick is still not cleared, he seeks legal help and did television interviews to hopefully clarify his actions, mounting tension since Amy has suddenly returned randomly. Unexpectedly, they have a reunion that shows a positive pregnancy test, making Nick trapped in a mess of a relationship. Lastly, the first scene started playing, but with Nick questioning everything about his wife this time.
My Project
This has to do with my project because it helps me learn more about relationship dynamics that I can use in my film. It also gives me ideas on the drama elements that can take place in a well-thought-out movie to make it more appealing to audiences.
